Hi there, and welcome to my space where watercolour, nature, and slow living come together.
I'm Amanda, an artist and surface pattern designer based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Inspired by quiet countryside moments, untamed landscapes, and peaceful lakes at the blue light of dusk, my work embraces simplicity, slow living, and thoughtful storytelling. Each piece is created for those who appreciate gentle detail, emotional connection, and meaningful design.
When I sit on a sunny lawn, watching birds go about their day, I feel connected to something greater. This journey is about staying true to my heart, following my love for nature, and stepping away from the noise of the world.
Through my art, I hope to inspire others to notice the beauty that surrounds us, to live with fewer rules, and to make space for life to feel free.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Rooted in nature, shaped by slow living, and painted with presence.
Where it all started
My love for art began when I was young, spending weekends exploring craft markets and filling sketchbooks with drawings. After a 17-year corporate career, moving to the countryside allowed me to reconnect with my creative roots and return to what I love most.
Watercolor is my medium of choice. I love how it flows freely, creating shapes and details that often surprise me, much like nature itself. I have a deep appreciation for indigenous plants and birds, and I am currently writing and illustrating my first children's book.
Finding joy in the stillness
Every collection I create is shaped by a signature blend of:
• Biophilic design: artwork rooted in nature’s shapes, textures, and rhythms.
• Slow living principles: intentional, unhurried creation that honours presence and simplicity.
• Countryside poetry: storytelling inspired by birdsong, warm kitchens, soft light, and everyday beauty.
• Watercolour softness: gentle washes, organic imperfections, and natural movement in each stroke.
Together, these elements form the heart of Valley Whisper - art that feels like a deep breath, a warm afternoon, a quiet invitation to reconnect with what matters.
I’m grateful you’re here, wandering through this creative world with me.

"Emotionally atmospheric art.
A reminder to pause, to breathe, to notice, to soften.
Because the world is loud, fast, and overwhelming."
